Flour Power Project

Are you looking for an “independent” family project to engage your family each
month? We have a perfect opportunity for you. Flour Power is a local agency
committed to reclaiming surplus baked good from City Market (Shorewood and
Whitefish Bay locations) to distribute to community members living with food
insecurity. They are seeking volunteers to pick up and deliver baked goods one day
per month.

PURPOSE: Children and their caregivers will have the opportunity to collect baked
goods from a local restaurant and deliver them to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission.

IMPACT: Children will serve with their families to repurpose unsold bakery items to
provide sustenance to friends living with food insecurity.

ACTIVITIES: Families will pick a “numbered day of the month” to pick up baked
good from City Market at 8:00 pm and deliver the food on the next day to the
Milwaukee Rescue Mission. Flour Power has a specific form detailing the pick up
and drop off procedures. Lynn will share that document with interested families.

DAYS AVAILABLE: City Market - Shorewood, 10th of the month, City Market - WFB 1st, 18th and 29th of the month. We suggest a 6-month commitment to this mission.

Registration: FULL

CANCELLATIONS: If you cannot pick up at the last minute, please call the City
Market to which you are assigned to let them know you will not be there. If you
know ahead of time, Flour Power you are encouraged to find a “substitute” for your
family or trade days with another family. Flour Power will provide you with a roster
of participating families.
