So many of us have been touched by cancer through our families and friends. Often, our children are aware of cancer and feel helpless in the face of it. Join us at this event to get a hands on way of helping!
PURPOSE: Cancer is the worst bully you can imagine. To combat this foe, doctors often use
chemotherapy. Chemotherapy can be rough in that it is fraught with side effects, which include nausea, fatigue, hair loss, dry skin, etc. Patients tend to have a lot of fear and anxiety about the process so Operation Chemo Comfort strives to support the community’s patients who have been diagnosed with cancer and will be undergoing chemotherapy. Our mission includes collecting and distributing care kits and hand-crafted chemo caps.
IMPACT: Patients undergoing treatment at local care centers will receive a note of
encouragement and a kit of essentials to remind them that they are never alone in their
journey through treatment.
ACTIVITIES: This event will include a variety of events to help kids learn a little about Operation Chemo Comfort’s mission while coloring cards for the kits. Our goal is also to complete the assembly of 250 care kits to be distributed to several organizations that support the community’s chemotherapy patients. Kits include Kleenex, lip balm, hand sanitizer, Biofreeze, light snacks, and a personal uplifting message of hope.
