Hephatha Lutheran Church is located on Locust and 18th street. Hephatha functions as a church and also a place of community outreach. They host after-school groups for children, counseling, AA support groups and other services meet there. Pastor Mary Martha Kannass has been there 25 years and is pleased to report that she can see the difference the church is making throughout the generations. Several kids who have benefited from Hephatha are now off to 4 year colleges, trade schools, and training programs.
PURPOSE: Provide Easter Meal Baskets for families being helped by Hephatha Lutheran Church. Engage our young children in an activity involving fun, team work, and craft-making to help others.
IMPACT: By providing these baskets, we will let the families in need know that they are not alone, that others care about them. As they say at Hephatha Church, they do not see the baskets as charity but more as moral support.
ACTIVITIES: Families and children will meet at Bayshore Lutheran Church in Whitefish Bay to assemble food baskets, listen to a read aloud, and create an art project to go along with the baskets.
**NOTE** The art project will involve permanent markers. Please dress yourself and your child accordingly. :)
