4th Annual St. John's Trick or Treat

This is our fourth annual Trick or Treat event at Saint John's on the Lake. Saint John's is a nursing and retirement home located on the upper east side of Milwaukee. Our partnership with them began four years ago with a Halloween visit and has continued to strengthen through our monthly intergenerational playgroups. Come and join us while we trick or treat with the residents at St. John's on the Lake!

PURPOSE: Give children and elderly adults (two populations with fewer interactions) a chance to mingle in a casual atmosphere. Children will spread cheer to the residents.

IMPACT: As children learn about patience and respect they also learn that friends can be made at any age. Elderly residents will have a chance to host a festive event for their young friends!

ACTIVITIES: Participants will meet as a group in the parlor room at Saint John's on the Lake prior to the event beginning. We will begin by taking a group photo (this is a very special milestone for us!). After the group photo is taken we will walk together to the main hallway on the first floor to share a song with the residents. You will be emailed the song lyrics to practice at home with your children. Children and caregivers will then trick or treat through the first floor hallway. After the event, families will have the opportunity to help escort residents back to their wing, which provides the chance to interact with our friends even more!

WHEN AND WHERE: Tuesday, October 31 10-11:30am, Saint John's on the Lake (1840 N Prospect Ave Milwaukee) *We will start promptly at 10am. As all of our events are geared towards young children and short attention spans, this will move quickly.* The event will take place in the "North Tower" (older tall brown building). The parlor room is located directly through the front lobby of the North tower. If you can't find us please ask the front desk to direct you. Parking:You can park in the "North Parking Lot" at Saint John's as well as on Prospect Ave, in front of the building. There are always available spaces to park on the side streets surrounding the campus as well.
